Founded in 1987, the American International School in Cyprus (AISC) operates an Elementary School for grades 1-5 and a Middle School for grades 6-8. AISC serves students from over 32 countries and is part of the ESOL Education network, which connects it with exceptional international schools worldwide.
Both the Elementary and Middle schools are centred around Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), American Education Reaches Out (AERO), Social Studies Standards and Virginia State Standards (VSOL). The Middle School also runs an advisory programme. The Elementary school's curriculum is "different", and for the Secondary school, it is "similar".
Students from Grades 1 to 6 are provided with a personalised, school-owned iPad (which remains at school at all times). Student life includes after-school activities, field trips, dances, outings, sports days, spirit weeks, and junior and senior proms.
The school provides an American and international university preparatory education, including the option of the International Baccalaureate program for the last two years of secondary school. AISC plays a unique role in the Cyprus community, being the only institution offering an American system program in Cyprus.
